About this event
Free To Be - Therapeutic Yogic Tools for Releasing the Pain and Stress of Dysmenorrhea
September 17, 2026
From 6:00 - 7:00pm
Learn a wall-supported, breath-led practice to soften muscular pain and tension, and restore your parasympathetic nervous system. Our natural, yogic self-healing techniques focus on correct pelvic floor activation and restorative poses to relieve cramping and heal the downward Pranic energy flow for women who experience discomfort on their cycle.
Yoga Therapy can include breath-work, meditation, asana/ postures, sound, visualization, and self-reflection. We have integrated lunar-solar breathing, reclining spinal twists, and grounding, restorative poses to help reduce cramping and encourage endocrine balance.
A participatory and responsive environment,
where your questions, concerns and requests can best be addressed.
Sessions are given with respect for the individual needs of each participant, and is appropriate for those brand new to Yoga, as well as for those who have participated in Yoga as Therapy programs in the past. Please remember:
- Not to eat a full meal before an active Yoga practice. Everyone's metabollic system is different, but it can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to digest your food.
- Bring a water bottle and a Yoga mat if you have one.
- We have props for your use at the Center, free of charge. Blocks, bolsters and pillows to enhance your session.
*Yoga Feedback Group
Participants who meet basic criteria have the opportunity to participate in a Therapeutic feedback group by answerting a questionnaire. This project helps us to better understand, document, and communicate the effectiveness of yoga as therapy.
Those participants who would like to continue with the yoga series at home, with support, can choose to commit to 10 or 30 days. In exchange, further feedback will be collected, and may lead to small case studies. Details will be presented at the forum.
